The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
-Carl Rogers, American psychotherapist

Welcome. I am a therapist who works with adults and adolescents in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In my practice, I foster compassion and authenticity. I want each client to feel a new freedom: to choose how she responds to life, rather than feeling overwhelmed by emotions or stuck in unhealthy patterns. My clinical orientation is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which means that I believe change happens when a person listens closely to the difficult parts of themselves, understanding these parts to be like wounded children in need of love, not banishment.
In addition to having trained with the IFS Institute in New York, I am a Grief Recovery specialist and trauma-certified therapist trained in EMDR, Somatic Integration and Processing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for Adolescents and Families. As a clinician who holds an advanced degree in Creative Writing, I enjoy engaging clients in inner explorations through creative techniques such as sand tray, mapping, and art and writing prompts.
